Rev alternative
Rev is built for legal and investigative work, and it sells the thing a transcript-only service cannot: a human who types your file for $1.99 a minute. The AI transcription is guaranteed and priced per seat from $25.49, which is why the comparison with Transcrib Si below is not a wash.
Short answer: if you need a transcript that will hold up in a legal file, pay Rev for the human work — $1.99 a minute is the published rate. If you need a lot of your own recordings turned into text and you are correcting them yourself, the plans here cost far less: about 0.7 cents a minute on the yearly plan against 0.51 cents at Rev Essentials, and no seat to manage. Every Rev figure below was read off a dated copy of their pricing page; the note under the table explains why.
What Rev charges
| Plan | Price | Allowance | Worked out per minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 45 AI transcription and caption minutes a month, 1 user, English only | Free |
| Essentials, yearly | $25.49 a seat a month, $305.90 for the year | 5,000 AI transcription and caption minutes a user a month, up to 3 users | About 0.51 cents |
| Essentials, monthly | $29.99 a seat a month | The same 5,000 minutes a user a month | About 0.6 cents |
| Pro, yearly | $47.99 a seat a month, $575.88 for the year | 10,000 AI transcription and caption minutes a user a month, up to 5 users | About 0.48 cents |
| Pro, monthly | $59.99 a seat a month | The same 10,000 minutes a user a month | About 0.6 cents |
| Unlimited | Custom | Unlimited AI minutes a user a month, unlimited users | Not worked out |
| Human transcription | $1.99 a minute | Priced per minute, separately from the plan | Published as $1.99 |
Two details deserve a note. The free plan is thin for a professional tool: 45 minutes a month is one short meeting. And the annual prices are the ones with the discount on them — the same plan costs $29.99 a seat when it is paid month to month and $25.49 when it is paid for the year, with two months free.
Where the figures come from: Rev loads its pricing with JavaScript, and on 2026-10-25 the page returned an empty body to our reader. The numbers above were read from the copy in the Internet Archive dated 2026-10-04, and the working is shown so you can check it. Prices may have moved since that date, so confirm them on Rev's own pricing page before you sign anything.
What this service charges
No seats, no per-minute human work, one allowance per account.
| Plan | Price | Limits | Worked out per minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, 64 MB per file | Free |
| Pro, billed yearly | $10 per month ($120 for the year) | 1,500 minutes of audio a month, files up to 64 MB and 120 minutes | About 0.7 cents |
| Pro, billed monthly | $20 per month | The same 1,500 minutes a month, cancel any time | About 1.3 cents |
The minute price is close to Rev's, and that is the interesting part: about 0.7 cents here against about 0.51 cents at Rev Essentials and about 0.48 cents at Rev Pro. Both services are cheap once you are on a subscription. What they charge for is different — Rev's plan is per seat, so a team of five is five allowances and five bills, while one account here covers the same five people and the same 1,500 minutes of audio.
What this service does not do is the human work. There is no $1.99 a minute proofreading option here, because the transcript arrives as text that you correct yourself, one word at a time, in the editor. If your file has to be defensible rather than readable, that difference matters more than any price per minute.

Questions this page answers.
Is Rev cheaper than this service?
Per minute of AI transcription, they are close: about 0.51 cents a minute at Rev Essentials and about 0.48 cents at Rev Pro, against about 0.7 cents here on the yearly plan. Per seat, Rev is dearer, because the price covers one person and the allowance follows that person. This service prices an account, so the cost does not multiply when a colleague needs the same thing.
What does $1.99 a minute buy at Rev?
A human being transcribing the file, with a stated accuracy of 99% or better and a delivery promise. That is a different product from an engine that writes text you then correct. It is worth the money when the transcript is evidence or a court filing, and it is poor value when you are making notes for yourself.
Why is the Rev data a little older than the rest of the page?
Because Rev loads its pricing with JavaScript and the page came back empty to our reader on 2026-10-25, both in a normal browser and through a direct request. The figures come from the copy in the Internet Archive dated 2026-10-04, and the date is written next to them so you can judge how fresh they are. Everything else on this page was read from live pages on 2026-10-25.
Can I try the free plan without a card?
Yes. The free plan here gives 3 files a day of up to 30 minutes each, with no card and no trial clock, and it uses the same transcription as the paid plan. Rev's free plan is 45 minutes a month for one user, which is a useful sample but not something to work with every day.
What are the file limits on each side?
Here they are published and the same on every plan: 120 minutes and 64 MB per file, with 30 minutes per file on the free plan and 3 files a day. Rev does not publish a file length or a file size limit on its pricing page, so this page does not state one. If a long file matters to you, ask Rev directly rather than guessing from the plan.
