What it is

a transcription service for files: a REST API, an MCP server and plugins for Claude and ChatGPT

a speech-to-text platform for developers, with text-to-speech, a voice agent API and audio intelligence on the same account

How the price is counted

a subscription: $10 a month paid yearly ($120 a year) with no minute limit of audio, or $20 a month paid monthly

per minute of audio, pay as you go: $0.0048 for Nova-3 monolingual and $0.0058 for the multilingual one, up to $0.0092 a minute depending on the model; $0.0048 a minute is about $0.29 an hour; the Growth plan starts at $4,000 a year and saves up to 20%

Free plan

$0: 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, no card

a $200 credit on an account that needs no card, then pay-as-you-go

One file

up to 30 minutes per file on the free plan, no minute limit on Pro

no file size and no duration limit named on the pricing page

Transcription languages

99+ languages, set by you or detected

45+ for the Nova models; the number for the Flux models is not named on the page

Export formats
6

TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV, and DOCX on Pro

not named on the pricing page
Live and streaming audio

not offered: we take a file that is already finished

REST and WebSocket streaming, up to 50 concurrent REST calls and 150 WebSocket sessions on pay-as-you-go, 225 on Growth

API and machine-readable access

a REST API under /v1 and an MCP server with 4 tools, from the Pro plan

REST and WebSocket APIs, an API playground, a voice agent API and a published /llms.txt for agents

Meeting bot, calls and hardware

none: no bot joins your meeting and we sell no recorder of our own

none on the pricing page: Deepgram ships models and APIs, not a meeting assistant

What we do not sell

no translation, no summaries, no speech-to-speech, no add-ons

text-to-speech from $0.015 a 1,000 characters, a voice agent API from $0.050 a minute, audio intelligence, and redaction, entity detection and speaker diarization as paid add-ons

Where the audio goes

our own engine outside the United States; a file that is entirely in English may go to a third-party cloud provider in the United States when that fallback is on

a dedicated EU endpoint, GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2 and self-hosted deployments

The case

The bill arrives after the file, not before

The Deepgram pricing page reads like a menu for a developer: a model in every row, a price per minute, and add-ons that cost fractions of a cent. That menu is precise, and it is also a promise you have to read twice, because the free part is $200 of credit and not a plan. Our side of the table is simpler on purpose: a subscription, a daily number of files, and a file that arrives whole.

How it works

How to move a file to this service

  1. 1

Look at the unit, not the number

Deepgram prices the minute, so the bill depends on the model: $0.0048 a minute for Nova-3 monolingual, $0.0058 for the multilingual one. Our plan is a month, so the same file costs the same on the first day and on the last.

  2. 2

    Ask what the credit covers

The $200 of Deepgram credit is a one-off, and the page does not say how long it lives. Our free plan renews every day: 3 files, 30 minutes each, no card and no clock.

  3. 3

    Count the languages you need

Deepgram names 45+ languages for the Nova models. We publish 99+ languages, and we would rather say that than put a number we cannot defend.

  4. 4

Decide what you want after the text

Deepgram sells add-ons: redaction, keyterm prompting, entity detection and speaker diarization, each priced per minute. We do not sell them, and our transcript comes with timecodes and a speaker split on request.

Tips

  • Count the minutes before the months.

  • A credit is not a plan.

  • Read which model the price belongs to.

  • Ask for the export formats you need.

Questions this page answers

Is Deepgram cheaper than Transcribsi?

For a single hour of audio, yes: Nova-3 monolingual is $0.0048 a minute, about $0.29 an hour. Our Pro plan is $10 a month with no minute limit, and the free plan gives 3 files a day.

What does the free plan of Deepgram give?

A $200 credit on an account that needs no card, and then pay-as-you-go. The page calls it a free credit, not a plan, and does not name a monthly limit.

Which languages does Deepgram transcribe?

The pricing page says the Nova models support 45+ languages. The number for the Flux models is not named there. We publish 99+ languages for recognition: 99+ languages.

Does Deepgram record meetings?

Not on the page we read. Deepgram sells models and APIs, so the audio has to reach it from somewhere else. We also take a file and never join a call.

Can I try Deepgram without a card?

Yes: the pricing page says no credit card is required and that the account starts with a $200 credit. Our free plan also asks for no card.
