Google Voice to text
Google Voice to text: upload the Google Voice recording and get the text with a timecode on every line. Free $0, 3 files a day.
The Google Voice recording is the only thing this service needs from Google Voice. Our engine reads the Google Voice recording and keeps the time of every sentence. The free plan is $0 with 3 files a day, and one file may be 30 minutes.
How to get Google Voice to text
- 1
Open the Calls tab
The recordings of the calls are found in the Calls tab of Google Voice.
- 2
Take the file off Google Voice
Open Google Voice on the device where the recording was made, find the file and take it down. Nothing else of the platform is needed afterwards.
- 3
Send the file to the engine
Drop the file of the Google Voice recording on the widget above, set the language and switch the speaker split on when more than one person talks.
- 4
Read the text, fix a name
The text comes back one segment per line, with the start and the end time of every piece. A wrong name is fixed in the editor.
What comes back from the engine
- TXT
One segment per line, the way a person wrote it down. It is the format to paste into a ticket, a chat or a document.
- TXT, CSV
The start and the end time of every segment, and the speakers named separately when you ask for it.
- SRT, VTT
SRT and VTT with the time of every line, so the recording can carry its own subtitles.
- Markdown, DOCX
The transcript is edited through the API and exported as Markdown for a wiki, or as DOCX for a review.
What Google Voice keeps, and what it gives
- Where the file is
The recordings are kept in the Calls tab of Google Voice, and they are downloaded to the computer from the menu of the call record.
- Where the file is kept
Voice plays an announcement to all participants that the recording has begun, and another one when the recording has stopped.
- Length of one file
up to 30 minutes on the free plan, no minute limit on Pro
- Free plan
$0: 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, no card
What the recording does not give you
Say one word of a decision three weeks later and see whether you can find it in the Google Voice recording. A recording is kept, and a recording is not used: the text is what the next person opens. Our own engine reads the Google Voice recording once, keeps the time of every sentence and hands the text back as a document.
Tips
Name the file of the Google Voice recording after the meeting, not after the day.
Google Voice gives the file, but the name of the file is yours to choose.
Check the length of the Google Voice recording before the upload: 30 minutes is the limit of one file.
Over 30 minutes on the free plan a file has to be cut before sending; Pro has no minute limit.
Set the language of the Google Voice recording yourself when you know it, or leave it on automatic detection.
