The case

Both sell a person as well as a machine

Two services that put a machine and a person on the same price list. The machine is cheap and fast, the person is slow and dear, and both companies sell the pair together. The difference is in the packaging: minutes a year against minutes a month, one seat against many.

How it works

How to read the two price lists

  1. 1

Read the free line before the paid one

HappyScribe gives away 10 minutes of AI transcription and Rev gives away 45 AI minutes in English. Both are enough for a test and not enough for a working week.

  2. 2

Compare the yearly allowance with the monthly one

HappyScribe bills 1,440 minutes a year on Basic and 7,200 on Pro. Rev bills 5,000 AI minutes a user per month on Essentials. Our own Pro plan gives no minute limit of audio every month.

  3. 3

    Price the person separately

HappyScribe charges from $2.00 a minute for proofreading and Rev from $1.99 a minute for a full transcript. Nobody in this comparison writes your file with a human by default, and that is a deliberate choice on our side.

Tips

  • A free plan of 10 minutes is a sample, not a budget.

  • Seat price matters more than plan price when several people work on it.

  • Check whether the export you need is on the plan you are buying.
