Transcribe Lao audio to text
Transcribe Lao audio to text: a lecture in Lao needs its own engine, ours writes down 99+ languages. AssemblyAI lists Lao among 99 languages.
A lecture in Lao is not a job for our engine: it transcribes 99+ languages in all. AssemblyAI lists Lao among 99 languages (assemblyai.com/languages, read 22 October 2026). Send the lecture there; the English part of the same lecture can come here.
An introduction, a long middle, a summary
30 minutes of a lecture is a file with a shape: an introduction, a long middle in one language, questions from the visitors in English, and a summary at the end. Splitting it by language gives two files instead of one, and each of them can be read by the engine that was built for it.

How to turn a lecture into notes
- 1
Cut the lecture by language
The introduction and the summary in English, the middle in Lao. One cut, two files, and each of them is clean.
- 2
Send the Lao file out
AssemblyAI publishes Lao in a list of 99 languages, read on 22 October 2026. The address of the page is in the sources below.
- 3
Upload the English file here
The widget takes up to 30 minutes. Set the language, and split by speaker if the room is quiet enough to tell the voices apart.
- 4
Turn the transcript into notes
Markdown for the wiki, TXT for the archive, CSV when the times have to line up with the slides. The DOCX export is on the paid plan.
Tips
Cut the lecture where the language changes, not at the pause.
Check the times against the slides before the class sees them.
Keep the recording; the transcript comes from it.
Export Markdown when the notes go into a wiki.
Questions this page answers
Will the words be right if the file is Lao?
No. A file with no matching language model comes back as an approximation, and an approximation of a lecture is worse than a blank page, because it fills the notes with false sentences.
How long may one lecture be?
30 minutes per file on the free plan, no minute limit. A lecture longer than that has to be cut into parts, and the upload is refused with a clear message.
Is there a paid plan that fits a course?
Pro is $10 a month paid yearly or $20 a month paid monthly, with a fair use of no minute limit of audio a month and the DOCX export.
Do you publish accuracy numbers?
No single number. We would have to publish the test set with it, and we have no evaluation for a language we do not support, so there is nothing honest to print.
Can the transcript be searched afterwards?
Yes, it is text: one line per segment in the app, and the CSV export gives the same lines with the time and the speaker for a spreadsheet.
