In short

Riverside records and edits video: its Pro plan is billed $288 a year, and the transcript is one AI tool inside it. Transcribsi does the transcript and nothing else — $10 a month with no minute limit, with a REST API and an MCP server.

The case

A studio and a service

Riverside is a studio: two-track recording, a text-based editor, hosting for a podcast, live streaming, and a set of AI tools around them, transcribing among those. We read the pricing page of Riverside on 22 October 2026, and the page itself warns that what it shows may be a staging version of the prices.

How it works

How a recording becomes a transcript here

  1. 1

Decide whether you need the studio

If the deliverable is a published episode with a video, the studio is the right tool. If the deliverable is a text that can be searched and quoted, the recording is the input and the studio is overhead.

  2. 2

Price the studio against the minutes

Riverside Pro is billed $288 a year and carries unlimited transcriptions inside it, without a watermark on the export. Our $10 a month buys no minute limit of audio and leaves the editing to somebody else.

  3. 3

Check the limits of the studio

The free plan records 30 minutes of multi-track material, Pro exports up to 4K with 48 kHz audio, and the separate track downloads are counted in hours. Our limit is 30 minutes for one file.

Tips

  • A studio is a tool, not a place to keep the words.

  • Watch for staging pages: prices move.

  • Unlimited inside a plan is not unlimited for you.

Questions this page answers

Does Riverside transcribe the recording?

Yes, and Pro carries unlimited transcriptions, with captions, show notes and translation in the same plan. What it does not do is give you a transcript service on its own, with an API and machine-readable output.

What is the cheapest paid plan at Riverside?

Pro, billed $288 a year, and Grow at $408 a year, which adds the MCP server, live streaming and a second studio. The page we read carried a warning that it may show a staging version of the prices.

Is the transcription at Riverside unlimited?

Unlimited transcriptions are part of Pro, but the editor around them is limited: 15 hours of separate track downloads, one studio, and a 14-day trial instead of a free month of work.

Can I use an MCP server with these transcripts?

Riverside lists an MCP server in the Grow plan. Ours is an MCP server with 4 tools, and it comes with the $10 plan and the no minute limit that belong to it.
