In short

A Telegram voice message is an audio file. Save it from the chat, upload the file here, and the words come back as text with the start and the end time of every line. One file is up to 30 minutes, and the free plan is $0.

How it works

How to transcribe a Telegram voice message

  1. 1

    Save the voice message

Telegram keeps the message in the cloud chat, and it is on every device you are signed in on. Open the message, save the audio file, and give the file a name you will recognise later: the sender and the day.

  2. 2

Put the file on the widget

The file is up to 30 minutes on the free plan. Choose 99+ languages, or leave the detection on, and switch on the split by speaker when the message holds more than one voice.

  3. 3

    Read it as text

Every line carries the time it starts and ends. Export the text and search it for the address or the number: the minute of the line tells you where to listen again.

The case

Why a voice message is worth keeping as text

A chat fills up with messages that nobody reads to the end. The address is in the third one, the number is in the fourth, and the way through all of them is to listen at double speed and hope. Voice messages are the one part of a messenger that cannot be searched, and a text version of the same audio can be.

Tips

  • Name the file after the chat and the day, not after the message.

  • Number the parts when a voice message is too long for one file.

  • Export TXT when the text has to go back into a message.

Questions this page answers

Does the service read my chats?

No. Nothing of ours is connected to your chat: you save the voice message as a file and you upload that file yourself, so the words of the chat stay in the chat unless you move them.

Can a voice message in Russian be transcribed?

Yes. The widget asks for the language: 99+ languages, or automatic detection.Athe recording language is detected automatically.

How long can one voice message be?

One file is up to 30 minutes, on every plan. A longer recording has to be split before the upload; the service does not cut the file for you.

What does it cost?

The free plan is $0 with 3 files a day and up to 30 minutes per file, and it asks for no card. The paid plan is $10 a month when you pay yearly, or $20 a month when you pay monthly.
