In short

Upload the video and get the words of it as text: a subtitle file for the player and a plain text for the description, the chapters and the shorts. One file is up to 30 minutes, and the free plan is $0 with 3 files a day.

The case

Why a video is watched twice

A video is a long thing to watch twice. The second time is the one where the words are needed: for the description, for the chapters, for the moment that becomes a short. The engine reads the sound of the file and writes the words down with a timecode on every line, and the subtitle file it exports goes straight onto the timeline of the editor.

How it works

How to transcribe a video

  1. 1

Take the video file of the episode

The export of the editor, mp4 or webm. The picture is not touched: the sound is what the engine reads, and the file keeps its video.

  2. 2

Upload it and pick the language

Drop the file on the widget above: up to 30 minutes. Leave the detection on for a mixed video, and switch on the speaker split when there is more than one voice.

  3. 3

Find the moment for the short

Every line carries the time it starts and ends. Open the text, find the sentence, note the minute, and the clip has its cut point already written down.

  4. 4

Export the subtitles in two formats

SRT for the video editor, VTT for the web player, DOCX for the script on Pro, TXT for the archive of the channel.

Tips

  • The transcript is a new file: the video stays as it was.

  • Name the file after the title of the video.

  • Export SRT for the editor and VTT for the web player.

Questions this page answers

Does the video get edited for me?

No. The transcript is a separate thing: the file you upload keeps its picture and its sound, and nothing is written back into it. Subtitles are a new file you export.

Which subtitle format does YouTube take?

Our SRT export is UTF-8, and the format itself is described on Wikipedia. Take the SRT for the video editor and the VTT for a web player of your own.

Can the whole channel be done in one go?

There is a REST API and an MCP server with 4 tools, and the API plan is billed on the audio you send. The widget handles one file at a time.

What does it cost for a small channel?

The free plan is $0 with 3 files a day and up to 30 minutes per file, with no card. Pro is $10 a month paid yearly, or $20 a month paid monthly.

What about a video in another language?

The engine works in any of the any of the 99+ languages, and a mix of the two is transcribed as it was spoken. A video in a third language is not something we can offer.
