The case

One is a volume plan, the other a service

One service sells you a month of transcription, the other sells you a desk full of transcribers. Both take a file, both return text, and the bill looks nothing alike: a flat subscription on one side, minutes, seats and human work on the other.

How it works

How the three bills differ

  1. 1

Work out how the minutes are counted

TurboScribe counts files and lets them run to 10 hours on the paid plan. Rev counts minutes: 5,000 on Essentials, 10,000 on Pro, and one place for the fee. Our Pro plan counts no minute limit of audio a month.

  2. 2

Separate the machine from the person

Everything Rev produces with the engine alone is AI. The $1.99 a minute tier is a person typing your file, and it is what a deposition or a legal transcript is bought for.

  3. 3

Match the tool to the job

A long lecture or a daily meeting series is a subscription. A single file that has to be right the first time is a different purchase, and paying by the minute is often the smaller one.

Tips

  • A price per minute is not a price per hour of work: check what it covers.

  • Count the audio you already have before you pick a monthly plan.

  • Ask who types the file when the answer has to hold up.

Questions this page answers

Which of the two is cheaper for a small job?

Rev sells single minutes of AI without a plan for $0.25, which is the cheapest way in on either side. TurboScribe starts at $10 a month, and we start at $0 with 3 files a day.

Does Rev transcribe in more languages than TurboScribe?

No. TurboScribe announces 98+ transcription languages, Rev 37+ on its Pro plan. Those are recognition languages; our own service recognises 99+ languages, and publishes only those two.

What does a human transcript from Rev cost?

From $1.99 a minute on the pricing page, with a limit of 12 hours of audio per order and a rush option that is up to five times faster.

Can I get the same subtitle files from all three?

TurboScribe exports SRT and VTT among six formats, and we export SRT and VTT too. The pricing page of Rev does not list its export formats, so we cannot promise a match there.
