no editor: the transcript, the timecodes and the exports
Both of them put a timeline in front of you and write the subtitles as a side job. The price you pay buys an editor, and the minutes that come with it buy the captions. If the video is what you are making, that is a good deal.
VEED hands out AI credits, about 25 hours of AI video on its Creator plan, and they do not roll into the next month. Kapwing gives 1,000 minutes a month on Pro. Our Pro plan gives no minute limit of audio a month.
Kapwing cuts the free export at 4 minutes and the paid one at 2 hours. VEED keeps the free plan for short clips. A service that transcribes a file has no such wall: our limit is up to 30 minutes.
Subtitles that belong to a finished video need an editor. A transcript that belongs to a document, a ticket or a search index does not, and paying for a timeline you never open is waste.
Credits that do not roll over are wasted credits.
Check the export length before you import a long recording.
Subtitles need an editor; a searchable transcript does not.

Yes: VEED exports TXT, SRT and VTT on the paid plans, and Kapwing writes SRT and VTT plus a separate transcript file. We export SRT and VTT as well, along with TXT, Markdown, CSV and DOCX.
VEED announces 125+ transcription languages; its paid plans translate subtitles into 50+ more. For Kapwing the pricing page names 60+ languages for translating subtitles and does not state how many it transcribes, so we leave that cell as it is.
Yes, and it is what we do: you upload a file and get the text with timecodes. At both of them the transcription sits inside a video editor, so the editor comes with the words.
Speakers by name, a time on every line, export to TXT, SRT, VTT, CSV and Markdown.
