Where does the iPhone recording wait?
It depends on the platform, and the table above names the place for this case: a folder on the device, a tab of the web portal or a folder on a drive.
Voice memo to text: upload the voice memo and get the text of it with a timecode on every segment, the speakers on request, and TXT, SRT, VTT, CSV or DOCX out. Free $0, 3 files a day.
The file of iPhone is all the service needs: our own transcription engine turns it into a text with a timecode on every segment. One file may be up to 30 minutes, and the speakers are told apart on request.
Open the Voice Memos app and record with the built-in or with an external microphone.
The Share sheet of the app sends the file through AirDrop, through Mail or through Messages.
The app transcribes the memo with iOS 18 on an iPhone 12 or a newer one, but the file is what this page needs.
The engine keeps the time of every segment, so a correction in the editor does not move anything else. Read the beginning and the names before the file goes out.
Drop the file on the widget above, or pick it from the device. Set the language, switch the speaker split on when more than one person talks, and send.
One segment per line, the way a person wrote it down. It is the format to paste into a ticket, a chat or a document.
The start and the end time of every segment, and the speakers named separately when you ask for it.
SRT and VTT with the time of every line, so the recording can carry its own subtitles.
The transcript is edited through the API and exported as Markdown for a wiki, or as DOCX for a review.
| What | What the platform says |
|---|---|
| Where the file is | The Voice Memos app of a phone records with the built-in microphone or with an external one, and the file stays in the app. |
| What the file is | The recording is shared out of the app: Share, and then AirDrop, Mail or Messages. |
| What can go wrong | The transcript of the app needs iOS 18 and an iPhone 12 or a newer one. |
| Length of one file | up to 30 minutes on the free plan, no minute limit on Pro |
| Free plan | $0: 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, no card |
| Pro plan | $10 a month when you pay yearly ($120 a year), or $20 a month |
Say one word of a decision three weeks later and see whether you can find it. In an iPhone recording that word lives in a sound file that nobody can skim. Send the file through our own transcription engine and it comes back as text, one segment per line, with the start and the end time of every piece. A search then turns into a quotation with a timestamp.
Do not guess the language: a wrong setting shows up in the names.
Turn on the split by speaker when more than two people talk.
Take CSV when the text of the iPhone file has to go into a spreadsheet.
A headset microphone gives a cleaner text than the one of the room.

No. The engine reads the file the way the platform made it: MP4, MP3, M4A, WAV and the other formats of the recorders are all taken. Nothing has to be converted first.
The file goes to our own engine and comes back as text. It is not sold and it is not used to train models for other customers. The privacy page of the site has the details.
Yes, switch on the split by speaker before you send the file. Two people on one call are told apart, and every line of the text keeps the name.
