How to get Webex recording to text

Open the recording
The recording is taken from User Hub, or from the local folder of the computer where the meeting was recorded.

Fix the names in the editor
A wrong name in the text is corrected in the editor. The correction moves no timestamp: the line keeps the moment it was said.

Copy the part you need
Every line of the text carries the moment it was said, so a quotation can be copied with its own timecode.

Wait for the text, not for the file
The upload of the Webex recording is quick; the engine reads it once and hands the whole text back as a document.
What comes back from the engine
- TXT
One segment per line, the way a person wrote it down. It is the format to paste into a ticket, a chat or a document.
- TXT, CSV
The start and the end time of every segment, and the speakers named separately when you ask for it.
- SRT, VTT
SRT and VTT with the time of every line, so the recording can carry its own subtitles.
- Markdown, DOCX
The transcript is edited through the API and exported as Markdown for a wiki, or as DOCX for a review.
What Webex keeps, and what it gives

Webex stores the recorded meetings and webinars either on the computer of the host or in User Hub, and the recordings are shared and downloaded from there.

As a host you find the recording in the meeting itself, and as an attendee you get the access to it from the link in the mail of the host.

What the recording does not give you
The Webex recording is already on your disk, and it already holds the whole meeting. A recording is kept, and a recording is not used: the text is what the next person opens. Our own engine reads the Webex recording once, keeps the time of every sentence and hands the text back as a document.

Name the file of the Webex recording after the meeting, not after the day.
Webex gives the file, but the name of the file is yours to choose.
Check the length of the Webex recording before the upload: 30 minutes is the limit of one file.
