API playground

Put your key, choose a file, press the button — and you see the real answer of our API: the status, the headers, the body and how long every call took. The snippets below are built from the same fields, so what you copy is what was sent.

Try it

Send a request and read the answer

The chain is the chain of the documentation: upload the file, read the transcript while it is being made, then take the export in the format you need.

The request

The one address the key is sent to. Change it and the snippets change with it.

No key: the page works without one in the demo mode.

Off by default. The key stays in the memory of the page; it is written to the storage of the browser only when you tick this box, and it is removed again when you untick it.

or click to choose. mp3, wav, m4a, mp4, ogg, flac, webm — up to 64 MB and 120 minutes.

The same call as code

The snippets are built from the fields above: the base URL, the path, the method, the headers and the body. Every snippet carries two calls — the upload and the export GET /v1/transcripts/{transcript_id}/export?format=… — so the language changes the first call and the format changes the second one. Change a field and the snippet is built again. The key is a placeholder — put your own in.

The key in the snippet is the placeholder $TRANSCRIB_API_KEY. The real key stays in your browser.

FAQ

Questions this page answers.

Do I need an account to try the playground?

No. The button «Run the demo without a key» works against the local stand of the repository, where the recogniser is replaced by a stub. To try the real service, paste your own key: it is created in the app on the Pro or Team plan.

Where do I get an API key?

In the app, on the Pro or Team plan. The value is shown once at creation and we store only its hash, so it cannot be shown again. The keys live under your account.

Is it safe to paste a key on this page?

The key stays in the memory of the page. It is not printed, it does not go into the console, and it is written to the storage of your browser only if you tick the consent box. It is sent to one address only: the base URL written in the field above, and to nowhere else.

Which formats can I take out?

Six: TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV and DOCX. The DOCX export is on the Pro plan only. The chain of the page ends with the export in the format you chose.

What does it cost?

The free plan is $0: 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, no card. Pro is $10 a month when paid yearly and $20 a month when paid monthly, with 1,500 minutes of audio a month. The API itself is metered — you are billed on the audio you send. The prices are on the pricing page.
