How to transcribe a podcast episode

  1. Upload the episode

Drop the file on the widget below, or send it with POST /v1/transcripts and a multipart file field.

  2. Set the language of the episode

Russian or English, or automatic detection — 0.39 s on a short file in our own measurement.

  3. Ask for speaker separation when there are several hosts

Switch on “Split by speaker”. The labels come as SPEAKER_00, SPEAKER_01 and so on; you rename them in the editor.

  4. Export what the episode needs

Markdown for the show notes, CSV for the chapters, SRT for the video cut.

What we do not do

We do not host the episode, we do not publish it, we do not cut audio or video and we do not write the show notes for you. We give you the text with the times, and you decide what to do with it.

Try it now

Put a file on the page and read the first lines.

The widget below is the same one as on the home page: file → transcript with timecodes and speakers → export. The transcript is saved to your account.

FAQ

Questions this page answers.

How long can a podcast episode be?

120 minutes per file and 64 MB. At 64 kbps a two-hour episode is about 57.6 MB and fits; at 128 kbps it is 115.2 MB, so it has to be compressed or split.

Can you tell the hosts apart?

Switch on “Split by speaker” and the engine labels the voices. The labels are neutral numbers until you rename them in the editor.

Do you remove filler words?

No. The transcript is what was said. Editing it takes one click in the editor, and the exports follow the edited text.

Can I get the episode as a document?

Yes: DOCX on Pro. On Free the other five formats — TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT and CSV.

How long does an episode take to transcribe?

The engine works in 22-second fragments with a 3-second overlap, so a 45-minute episode is a few hundred fragments. The status in the widget shows where it is, and we do not promise a fixed speed on a busy queue.

Can I upload a whole season?

One file per request, and the Free plan allows three files a day. A season is many requests; a committed volume is written down on the Team plan.
