Comparison with a bot

Transcrib Si vs Voicy: an open-source Telegram transcription bot compared honestly

Voicy is the bot to look at if you want the code: the bot catalogue we checked lists it among the few bots with a public source, it answers every voice message in a group, and it is free. Its price list is not published anywhere we could read - the site has no tariff page at all. We are a transcription service with a published allowance, export formats, an API and an MCP server, and our Telegram bot is still in beta.

What we compared, and how

Every cell of the other column comes from a public page that was read on 24 October 2026. The last column of the table links to that page, so you can check the number yourself. Where a page could not be read, the cell says "no data" — we do not fill it from advertising, from a catalogue or from memory.

Our own Telegram bot is in beta. The handle and the link to it are placeholders in our own site data, and the status there is still "placeholder": the bot is not registered yet, it does not answer, and we do not promise functions it does not have. The web service, the REST API, the exports and the prices below are live today.

The facts about the bot: name, where it lives, who publishes it, when it was read.

Where Voicy is better

  • Open source. The code is public: the catalogue entry we checked says Voicy is one of the few bots in Telegram with a public source, so you can read what it does with your audio before you send it.
  • The whole group, at once. Add Voicy to a chat and every voice message is answered with a transcript, so nobody has to forward anything.
  • Free. The bot costs nothing; the author takes donations. There is no price to compare with ours.
  • The engine is your choice. The recognition language and the engine are picked in the settings, and long messages are split into readable paragraphs.

Where Transcrib Si is better

  • A published allowance. We publish what a plan gives: minutes per month, the size and the length of one file, and the price of every plan. Voicy publishes no tariff page at all.
  • Formats. TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV and DOCX. The bot posts the text in the chat; the web app adds DOCX, PDF, TXT and SRT.
  • A file, not a message. The length and the size of one file are written down, so the interview does not have to be cut into pieces.
  • An API and an MCP server. The MCP server and the plugins for Claude and ChatGPT; the transcript can go straight into your own system.
  • Where the audio goes. We publish the whole route: our own engine outside the United States for Russian and mixed speech, and a US cloud provider for pure English when that fallback is enabled. Voicy sends the audio to third-party speech services, which is worth knowing before you forward a confidential recording.

Who should pick which

  • Pick Voicy if you want to read the code, if you want a free bot for the chats you are in, or if your work is not in Russian and not in English.
  • Pick Transcrib Si if the transcript is a deliverable: a file for a client, subtitles for a video, a row in a spreadsheet or a line in your own system.
  • Pick either if a group chat is the place where the recordings happen. Voicy transcribes the group as it is; we transcribe the file you hand over.
This is not a review. It is a comparison of facts we could read on public pages on 24 October 2026. We publish one of the two services and we have tried to state our own weak side as plainly as we state the other one.

FAQ

Questions this page answers.

Is Voicy free?

The bot is free and the author accepts donations, but there is no public price: the site publishes no tariff page, and the price of the Pro tier is shown only inside the bot. We did not find a price list to compare with ours, so the cell says so instead of guessing.

Does Voicy work in groups?

Yes. Add it to a chat and every voice message gets a transcript as the answer, or forward a voice message to it in private for the same result. We do not work that way: we take a file you hand over.

Which languages does Voicy support?

The bot lets you choose the recognition language and the engine, and the site publishes a count for the translation layer only and nothing for recognition. It does not publish a list for recognition, so we do not repeat one here.

Is Voicy open source?

Yes, according to the bot catalogue we checked: it is one of the few bots in Telegram whose source code is public. We are a closed service, and we publish what happens to your file in the privacy policy instead.

Is the Transcrib Si Telegram bot running?

Not yet. The handle and the link to it are placeholders in our own site data, and the status there is still "placeholder": the bot is not registered yet, it does not answer, and we do not promise functions it does not have. The web service, the API, the exports and the prices are live today.
