In short

A conference call is one recording with several voices in it. Send the file to the widget, switch on the split by speaker, and every participant gets lines of their own with the time they start and end. One file: up to 30 minutes.

How it works

How to get the transcript of a conference call

  1. 1

Save the recording of the call

Take the file that the conference platform or the headset left behind. Every voice of the call is in it, and one file holds up to 30 minutes.

  2. 2

Turn on the split by speaker

On the widget above, choose 99+ languages or leave the detection on, and switch the split by speaker on. Each person of the call then gets a name of their own on the lines.

  3. 3

Follow one voice through the call

Export TXT and read the lines of one participant. Every line keeps the time it starts and ends, so a decision can be found by the minute it was made.

  4. 4

Hand the transcript to the team

CSV puts the time and the speaker of every line into a sheet, Markdown keeps the text readable in a wiki, and DOCX on Pro is a Word file with the whole call in it.

The case

Why a call with many voices needs labels

Six people on a line and nobody knows who spoke last. The recording holds all of them, but a wall of text without names is unreadable, so the transcript has to say who said what: the manager who set the deadline, the client who pushed it back, the engineer who said it can be done by Friday.

Tips

  • Switch the split by speaker on before you send.

  • One file per call keeps the timecodes readable.

  • Export CSV to read the speakers in a sheet.

  • Name the file after the meeting and the day.

Questions about a conference call transcript

How do the speakers get their names?

The split by speaker separates the voices, and each one gets a label. The label is a voice, not a name: you write the names into the file name or into the first line of the export.

What if two people share one microphone?

Two voices on one channel are hard to separate, and the transcript will not invent a name for either of them. Record with a headset per participant and the lines stay clean.

Is a 45-minute meeting one file?

Yes, if it fits: the limit of one file is up to 30 minutes. A longer call is uploaded in parts, and every part keeps its own timecodes, so the order of the parts tells the story.

Do you write the minutes of the meeting?

No. We give the text of the call with the voices named and the time of every line. A summary is a different product, and the exports we make are TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV and DOCX.
