Transcription pricing UK: what it costs, and who does it better
Transcrib Si is $0 for three files a day of up to 30 minutes, with no card, and $10 a month when you pay yearly ($120 a year, or $20 a month). Every file is limited to 64 MB and 120 minutes. We publish in dollars, not pounds — and so does almost everyone else in this market: of the sixteen services in the table below, four published prices in sterling, and every one of them sells human transcription.

What the other services publish, side by side.
Sixteen services, read on their own pages on 22 and 23 October 2026: the global self-serve tools that reach Britain, and the British agencies that hold the first page of the British results. Click a column header to sort, and use the filters to narrow the list. Every row carries the source it came from and the date it was checked.
A cell that the research could not read says “not measured”. It never counts as a “no”, and it stays out of the filters. We did not buy a subscription anywhere: we compared published prices and published limits.
The short version of each one.
$10 a month paid yearly, or $20 a month, in dollars. Three files a day for free, files up to 30 minutes. 98+ transcription languages and 134+ translations. It has no UK-marked pages in its sitemap at all — 1 721 pages in total, none of them British.
Pro at $16.99 a user a month ($8.33 a month paid yearly), Business at $19.99. The free plan carries 300 minutes a month and three file imports. Six languages only, and the page is in American English with dollar prices for a British visitor.
One of only three services in the British market with a British version of the site (53 UK URLs; the other two are tl;dv and GoTranscript). Pro at €7 a month paid yearly (€83.99 a year), Business at €15.83. The free plan gives 120 minutes a month and 50 uploads.
Pay as you go at $10 an hour, Core at $25 a month ($275 a year), Advanced at $50. Thirty minutes free with no card. 54+ languages, and 104 160 pages in its sitemap — 21 of them British. The Trustpilot score is 4.4 across 1 124 reviews.
A British agency that publishes its AI price in pounds: £0.10 a minute, with a hybrid service at £0.80 and a human at £1.20. There is no free plan and no subscription — you pay for the minutes of audio. The number of languages is not stated on the pricing page.
A British agency with prices in pounds and people doing the work: £1.15 to £2.05 a minute, surcharges of +£0.30 and +£0.20, and a £15 minimum. No free plan, and no number of languages on the rate page. Its /pricing URL returns a 404 — the rate page is the one that works.
When they choose us.
- Russian, confirmed. Russian is on the published language list of Transkriptor and of ours. Most of the British market does not name it at all, so if your recordings are in Russian or mixed Russian-English, there are two of us in this table and one of us is £-free.
- The API is not a seat. The REST API and the MCP server come with the $10 Pro plan and are metered by the audio you send. Otter and Rev price per seat and treat the API as a separate conversation.
- The limits are written down. 64 MB and 120 minutes per file, 1,500 minutes a month on Pro, the counter resets on the first of the month, and going over it returns an error instead of disabling the account.
- Six export formats, including CSV and Markdown. CSV carries one row per segment with time and speaker; Markdown is the same text as headings and lists.
- No card, no trial clock. The free plan asks for no card, so it cannot start charging you when a trial ends.
Where we fall behind.
- We do not price in pounds either. Your card provider converts the dollars, and we do not add a sterling price on top. Accuro, TypeOut, UK Transcription and University Transcriptions do publish pounds — and all four sell human transcription, which is a different product.
- Two languages against 58 to 150. HappyScribe claims 150+, GoTranscript 140+, Transcribe.com 120, Fireflies 100+, Notta 58, Sonix 54+. If your recording is not in Russian or English, they are the right tool.
- No British human transcription. The British agencies in the table quote from £0.95 a minute (University Transcriptions) to £2.05 (TypeOut) for people, and they add surcharges for difficult audio, verbatim work and rush turnaround. We do none of that.
- No UK data residency and no UK company. Russian and mixed audio is processed by our own engine on infrastructure outside the United Kingdom; pure English may be routed to a third-party cloud speech provider in the United States when that fallback is enabled on the server.
- No meeting recorder, no PDF export, no Windows desktop app. The app is in the browser, and our formats are TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV and DOCX.
- No public reputation yet. Trustpilot UK scores in this market run from 1.4 (Transcribe.com, 96 reviews) to 4.8 (Transkriptor, 1 831 reviews), and we have no rating to put next to them. We would rather leave the cell empty than write a number we have not earned.
Five things people ask.
How much does transcription cost in the UK?
With us, $0 for three files a day of up to 30 minutes each, and $10 a month paid yearly ($120 a year, or $20 a month) for Pro. In the British market the lowest monthly figure published in the table is €7 (Notta, paid yearly); in dollars the lowest published monthly figure is $8.33 (Otter and Transkriptor, paid yearly). By the minute, GoTranscript starts at $0.02 on a subscription and TranscribeMe at $0.07 for AI. The table above gives all sixteen services with the price each one publishes, the source URL and the date it was checked.
Which UK transcription service is the cheapest?
By machine price, TranscribeMe at $0.07 a minute for AI and GoTranscript at $0.02 a minute on a subscription. By sterling, Accuro publishes £0.10 a minute for AI. The British agencies in the table quote from £0.95 a minute (University Transcriptions) to £2.05 (TypeOut) for people; TypeOut adds surcharges of +£0.30 and +£0.20, and UK Transcription adds +£0.25 to +£1.00.
Do any of these services price in pounds?
Very few. Of the sixteen services in the table, twelve showed no sterling prices at all: the currency follows the geo-IP of the reader, not the language of the page. Sonix says so outright on its pricing page — all prices are in USD, and the card provider converts. Only Accuro, TypeOut, UK Transcription and University Transcriptions publish pounds.
Is my audio stored in the UK?
No. Russian and mixed Russian-English audio is processed by our own engine on infrastructure outside the United Kingdom. Pure English may be routed to a third-party cloud speech provider in the United States when that fallback is enabled on the server. Audio is never used to train models for other customers and is never sold. If you need processing inside the UK, we would rather tell you now than take your file.
Can I pay by invoice or direct debit, and is there a Windows app?
Not from us. Payments go through Stripe with a card, and the card number is never seen or stored by us; a Team plan with a committed volume is written down on request and is the only route to an invoice. There is no Windows desktop app — everything works in the browser, and the same service is behind the REST API and the MCP server.
