In short

How it works

How to transcribe a Facebook video

  1. 1

Save the video of the post

The post holds a video file. Save it the way the page allows it, and keep the original, with the sound in it. Nothing is published on the page and nothing is written back into the post.

  2. 2

Upload the file on this page

Put the file on the widget above: up to 30 minutes. Set the language of the recording or leave it on automatic detection, and turn on the split by speaker when two people talk in the video.

  3. 3

    Work with the text

Every line shows the time it starts and ends. Export the text and find the sentence for a caption by a word in it; SRT and VTT carry the same times for the repost.

The case

Why a video on a page cannot be searched

A video on a page stays a video on a page: it plays, and the words inside it cannot be searched. A text version of the same file can be searched, quoted and written under a repost. It is the same audio, not a second recording.

Tips

  • Name the file after the post, not after the person who shared it.

  • Keep the original video; the text is made from it.

  • Export DOCX on Pro when the text has to be sent to somebody for approval.

Questions this page answers

Does the service publish anything on the page?

No. It reads a file and writes a transcript to your account. Nothing is posted, no comment is left under the video, and the post itself is not touched.

Can the people in the video be named?

Yes, switch on the split by speaker before the upload. Each voice then gets a label of its own, and the lines of a dialogue can be read one after the other.

What if the video is in Russian?

It can be transcribed. Choose 99+ languages in the widget, or leave the detection on. A Russian or mixed file is processed by our own engine outside the United States, and the audio is never used to train models for other customers.

What does it cost?

Nothing to begin with: the free plan is $0, 3 files a day and up to 30 minutes per file, and no card is asked for. Pro costs $10 a month paid yearly or $20 a month paid monthly.
