A Granola alternative for transcription
Granola is a meeting notepad: $0, $14 and $35 per user a month, and it never joins your call. Transcribsi gives 3 files a day for free and $10 a month with no minute limit. Read on 24 October 2026.
Granola is a meeting notepad, not a file service: $0 for the Basic plan, $14 a user a month for Business and $35 for Enterprise. Transcribsi charges $10 a month with no minute limit of audio, gives 3 files a day for free, and exports to six formats.

an AI notepad for people in back-to-back meetings: no bot joins the call, it captures the audio of your device and writes the notes

per user per month: $0 for Basic, $14 for Business and $35 for Enterprise
$0: 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, no card
$0: the Basic plan, with 30 days of meeting history, AI chat inside and across meetings, shared folders, note templates and no API access

no file limit is named; the limit that is named is 30 days of meeting history on the free plan
99+ languages, set by you or detected
multi-language support is named on every plan; the number of languages is not
TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV, and DOCX on Pro
none: we do not join a meeting and we sell no recorder of our own
the core of the product: bot-free capture of the device audio, apps for macOS, Windows, iOS, Android and Apple Watch, notes taken on a phone in a walking meeting, and a calendar sync

AI meeting notes, action items, a chat that already knows your work, shared folders, note templates, recipes, follow-up emails, pre-meeting briefs and a workspace dictionary
Athe recording language is detected automatically.
the audio is deleted after transcription on every plan, model training can be opted out of per user, SOC 2 Type II is on every plan and HIPAA workspaces come with Enterprise
a transcript with timecodes, speaker labels on request and six export formats
notes in the app and a workspace you can search, kept for 30 days on the free plan; no export formats are named
A notepad in the room, a transcript after it
Granola listens to the meeting instead of joining it. It captures the audio of your own device, writes the notes while you stay in the room, and keeps them in a workspace you can search later. That is a different job from ours. We never sit in a meeting and we never write a summary: we take the recording you already have and turn it into a transcript with timecodes.
How to move a file to this service
- 1
Decide who is in the room
Granola joins no call: it takes the audio of your device, so nobody gets an invitation and nobody is recorded by surprise. We are further from the meeting — the file arrives after the call.
- 2
Look at the price per person
Basic is $0, Business $14 and Enterprise $35 per user per month. Our Pro plan is $10 a month with no minute limit of audio, and it does not change with the number of voices in the file.
- 3
Ask what a free account really holds
The free Granola plan keeps 30 days of meeting history, with AI chat over the meetings and no API access. Our free plan takes 3 files a day of 30 minutes each, exports in six formats and asks for no card.
- 4
Notice what is missing from our side
Granola writes summaries, action items and follow-up emails, and reads your calendar before the meeting starts. We do none of that. We give a transcript, timecodes and a speaker split.
Tips
A notepad and a transcript are different products.
Count the users, not the minutes.
Check whether the audio is yours to send.
Ask what happens to the recording afterwards.
Questions this page answers
Is Granola a transcription service?
Not in the sense we mean it. It writes notes from the meeting it hears, keeps them in a workspace and lets you chat with them. We take a file you already have and give a transcript with timecodes.
How much does Granola cost?
$0 per user per month for Basic, $14 for Business and $35 for Enterprise. Our Pro plan is $10 a month with no minute limit of audio, or $20 a month paid monthly.
Does Granola join the meeting as a bot?
No. It captures the audio of your device and does not invite a bot into the room. We do not join meetings either; our file arrives after the call, and the transcript is what you keep.
Can I use Granola for a file I already have?
Not on the pages we read: Granola is built around the meeting it hears. Our whole product is a file — up to 30 minutes, uploaded and exported in six formats.
Does Granola have an API?
API access starts at the $14 Business plan, and the free plan has none. An MCP connector is on every plan, from personal notes of the last 30 days on Basic upwards. Ours has a REST API and an MCP server with 4 tools from Pro.
