The case

The year against the month

Two ways to sell the same audio. HappyScribe gives a yearly allowance and sells the rest by the minute: 1,440 minutes in Basic, 7,200 in Pro, and $0.20 for each minute beyond. We give a monthly allowance and sell nothing beyond it. The difference shows up in the second month, when the year is not over yet and the minutes are already gone.

How it works

How to move a file to this service

  1. 1

Do the arithmetic for the year

HappyScribe sells 1,440 minutes a year in Basic and 7,200 in Pro, with the extra minutes at $0.20. Our plan is no minute limit a month, so the year is not the unit that decides the price.

  2. 2

Put the recording on the widget

The upload block above takes audio and video. One file is up to 30 minutes, and the free plan sends 3 such files a day without a card.

  3. 3

    Ask for the speakers

Switch on the split by speaker and each line names the person who spoke, with the time it started and ended. That is what makes a transcript usable in an argument.

  4. 4

Take the file the job needs

TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT and CSV come out of any plan, DOCX with Pro. HappyScribe adds more formats on Pro; we keep six, and a timecode in every one of them.

Tips

  • Compare the year, not the month, before you pay.

  • A minute over the limit is a separate bill there.

  • Check how long one recording may be.

  • Keep the recording beside the transcript.

Questions this page answers

Is HappyScribe cheaper than Transcribsi?

The Basic plan is $8.50 a month paid yearly, and it carries 1,440 minutes for the whole year. Our Pro is $10 a month with no minute limit every month, so the year is where the two sums part.

What happens when I pass the limit?

HappyScribe sells the extra minutes at $0.20 each and adds seats at $19 a month. We sell no extra minutes: the plan carries no minute limit of audio a calendar month.

How long can one recording be?

HappyScribe stops at 45 minutes per recording on the free plan and 90 on Basic, and lifts the limit on Pro. Ours is 30 minutes per file on the free plan, no minute limit.

Does HappyScribe have human help?

Yes, human proofreading from $2.00 a minute with a 99% accuracy claim and delivery from 4 hours, in 65+ languages. We sell the machine transcript only, with a timecode on every line.

How many languages does HappyScribe handle?

150+ languages and dialects for the AI and 80+ for the translation; the human proofreading service covers 65+ of them. We publish 99+ languages for recognition, 99+ languages, and the interface of this site is in English.
