Transcribe an HR interview

Transcribe an HR interview: timecodes on every line, speakers named on request, the same questions read the same way for every candidate.

In short

Upload the recording of the interview and the transcript comes back with the time of every line and the voices named on request, so the answer of each candidate can be read the same way. One file is up to 30 minutes; free is $0 with 3 files a day.

The case

Why the same question has to be asked the same way

Hiring is a comparison, and a comparison needs the same material for every candidate. When the answer to one question sits in a file nobody can search, the difference between two people is decided by memory. A transcript with timecodes puts the answer of yesterday's interview in front of the panel of today, word for word.

How it works

How to transcribe an interview

  1. 1

Record with the candidate in the room

One phone on the table records the whole interview. Ask the person on the other side of the table first and tell them about the file; the service only processes a file you have decided to upload.

  2. 2

Upload the file and name the voices

Drop it on the widget above: up to 30 minutes. Leave the language on automatic detection or set it, and switch on the split by speaker for a panel of two.

  3. 3

Read the answers instead of the notes

Every line carries the time it starts and ends. Open the transcript in any text editor, find the answer to the key question and note the minute it was said. Export TXT or Markdown for the panel, or DOCX for the file.

  4. 4

Keep the file with the candidate's record

The transcript is kept in your account — on the Free plan for 7 days — and a word can be corrected in the editor. The audio is not sold and does not train models for other customers.

Tips

  • Ask the same questions in the same order; the transcript does not reorder them.

  • Check the spelling of the candidate's name in the first minute.

  • Put the role and the date into the file name.

  • Export DOCX for the file that goes into the hiring archive.

Questions this page answers

Can the candidate and the interviewer be told apart?

Yes. The split by speaker names the voices separately on request, so the answer of the candidate stands apart from the question of the interviewer. Without it you get the words and the times, but no speaker names.

Can I compare two candidates in the same way?

Yes. Both transcripts are plain text with the same structure, one line per segment, so the same question can be found in both files and read side by side.

Does the service score the candidate?

No. The output is the text of what was said, with timecodes and speaker labels. There is no score of the candidate and no recommendation about the hire; the decision stays with the people who asked the questions.

How long may the interview recording be?

One file is up to 30 minutes, on every plan. The free plan allows up to 30 minutes per file, so a long interview needs Pro or a split into two files.
