In short

Meeting notes do not need a bot in the room: upload the recording and get the transcript, the summary, the key points and the list of tasks. One file is up to 30 minutes, and the free plan is $0 with 3 files a day.

The case

The other way round is simpler

The meeting notetakers of the market work by joining the call: a calendar, a bot, an account, a plan. The other way round is simpler — the meeting was recorded anyway, the recording is a file, and a file is all a transcript needs. The notes then come out of the transcript, not out of the call.

How it works

How to get the notes of a meeting

  1. 1

Take the recording of the meeting

Zoom, Meet and Teams all keep a recording, and a phone can make one. Download it: a file is up to 30 minutes, on every plan.

  2. 2

    Upload it, invite nobody

Drop the file on the widget above, set the language or leave the detection on, and switch on the split by speaker when more than two people talk.

  3. 3

Turn the transcript into the notes

The summary, the key points and the tasks come out of the text with the timecodes inside it. Export TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV, or DOCX on Pro.

Tips

  • Download the recording before the platform deletes it.

  • Name the task list after the meeting, not after the day.

  • A summary is only as good as the transcript under it.

Questions this page answers

Do I have to invite a bot to my meeting?

No. There is no bot in the room and no account of ours inside the meeting platform. You upload the recording, so the meeting stays where it was recorded.

What do the free plans of the meeting notetakers give?

Otter publishes 300 minutes a month with 3 file imports for the life of the account; Notta two hours a month with a 3-minute session limit; Fireflies unlimited transcription with 400 minutes of storage for the team. We read those pricing pages on 21 October 2026.

Where do the action items come from?

From the transcript itself: the tasks are taken out of the spoken text, and every line keeps the time it was said, so any item can be checked against the recording.

How many people can it tell apart?

As many as the recording holds, when the split by speaker is switched on. The speakers are named, which is the difference between a transcript and a readable set of notes.
