In short

For podcast to subtitles, the work is short once the file is on your own disk. The export of the episode of the podcast keeps the time of every line, so nothing is lost. One upload gives the whole text, and the free plan is $0 with 3 files a day.

How it works

How to get Podcast to subtitles

  1. 1

    Download the episode

In the Podcasts app open the episode and press Download under it.

  2. 2

Read the text, fix a name

The text comes back one segment per line, with the start and the end time of every piece. A wrong name is fixed in the editor.

  3. 3

    Export and send it on

Take TXT for a plain text, SRT or VTT when the episode of the podcast has to become a subtitled video, and DOCX for a review on Pro.

  4. 4

Name the file before you send it

Give the file of the episode of the podcast a name that says what is inside it: the name travels with the export and saves a search later.

The result

What comes back from the engine

  • TXT

One segment per line, the way a person wrote it down. It is the format to paste into a ticket, a chat or a document.

  • TXT, CSV

The start and the end time of every segment, and the speakers named separately when you ask for it.

  • SRT, VTT

SRT and VTT with the time of every line, so the recording can carry its own subtitles.

  • Markdown, DOCX

The transcript is edited through the API and exported as Markdown for a wiki, or as DOCX for a review.

The case

What the recording does not give you

Meetings end in files, and the episode of the podcast is what is left of them. Almost every question after a meeting is the same question with another name, and the file answers none of them. Our own engine reads the episode of the podcast and keeps the time, so a quotation can point at the minute it was said.

Tips

  • A correction in the editor does not move the time of any other segment.

  • Keep the episode of the podcast in a folder of its own, so the export lands where you look for it.

  • The free plan gives 3 files a day, and the paid plan is $10 a month when you pay yearly.

  • A headset microphone gives a cleaner text than the microphone of the room.

  • 99+ languages are read, so set the one your recording is in.
