The case

What the two of them are built for

Two assistants that sit inside the call and write the notes for you. Fireflies counts the minutes it keeps, Tactiq counts the meetings it will summarise for you. Neither one takes a finished recording off your disk and turns it into text, which is the job we do.

How it works

How to choose between them

  1. 1

Say where the sound comes from

If the meeting is still ahead of you, a bot in the room wins: Tactiq listens to Google Meet, Zoom and Teams, Fireflies does the same and adds analytics afterwards. If the recording is already behind you, upload the file instead.

  2. 2

Count the minutes, not the seats

Fireflies allows unlimited transcription on the free plan and charges from $10 a seat a year for the summaries, with 8,000 minutes of storage per seat. We count no minute limit of audio a month.

  3. 3

Look at what the file gives you

A transcript with timecodes, in six formats, is what our service returns. Fireflies lets you download its transcripts, but the pricing page does not name the formats, and Tactiq keeps the text inside the app.

Tips

  • Decide first whether you need the meeting or only the file.

  • Unlimited transcription is still limited by rate limits.

  • Fireflies keeps 400 minutes of recordings per team on its free plan.

Questions this page answers

Is Fireflies cheaper than Tactiq?

We have not measured Tactiq's plans, so the two cannot be compared on price. What is measured is Fireflies: Pro is $10 a seat a month paid yearly and $18 a month paid monthly, and the free plan transcribes without a limit.

How much is stored on the free plan?

Fireflies keeps 400 minutes of recordings per team on the free plan and 8,000 minutes per seat on Pro. Tactiq's storage is not measured here. Our service keeps the transcript in your account.

Can either of them transcribe a file I already have?

Fireflies accepts an uploaded audio or video file as well as a live meeting. Tactiq is built around the meeting itself. Uploading the file to a transcription service is what we do, with timecodes and six export formats.

Do they work with Claude or ChatGPT?

Tactiq ships a Claude connector and an MCP server, both marked beta. Fireflies gives API access even on the free plan. We publish a REST API, an MCP server with 4 tools and plugins for Claude and ChatGPT.
