In short

Record the consultation, upload the file, and the transcript comes back with a timecode on every line, so the note is written from the record and not from memory. One file is up to 30 minutes, and the free plan is $0 with 3 files a day.

The case

Why a note should be written from the record

A consultation is short, and the notes of it are written while the patient is still talking or straight after. The danger is the same in both cases: a word is remembered instead of heard. A transcript of the recording is the difference between what was said and what was understood, and with timecodes on every line the nurse or the assistant can go back to the exact minute of the answer that matters.

How it works

How to transcribe a consultation

  1. 1

    Ask before you record

Consent first, on the record of your service. The transcript is a working document for the notes, and nothing of it is published anywhere by us.

  2. 2

Upload the recording of the visit

The file from the phone or the clinic recorder: up to 30 minutes. Leave the language on automatic detection when the patient switches to English.

  3. 3

Read the line you are unsure about

Every line has the time it starts and ends. Play the minute in question, fix the word in the editor of the app, and the export is made from the corrected text.

  4. 4

Export the note for the clinic

DOCX for the record on Pro, TXT for the letter, CSV for the register. Nothing is written back into the recording you uploaded.

Tips

  • Consent before the first word, not after.

  • Keep the file name with the date of the visit.

  • Write the note from the transcript, not from memory.

Questions this page answers

Is a medical transcript confidential?

The file and the transcript stay in your account, and nothing is published for you. The audio is never used to train models for other customers and never sold. On the free plan the transcript is kept for 7 days.

What do the medical specialists charge?

Sonix sells a Medical Pro plan at $880 a year on its own pricing page, read on 21 October 2026. Our plans are per person and per month, and the free one is $0.

Can the engine tell two people apart?

Yes, on request: the speaker split is a switch next to the file at the upload, and every segment comes back with a speaker label.

Does the service keep the recording afterwards?

Yes, in your account, until you delete it. A deleted file leaves the live system at once and the encrypted backups within 30 days; the technical logs are kept for 30 days.

How fast is a short consultation?

On a short file, our own measurement of 21 October 2026 gives 0.84 s to transcribe and 0.39 s to detect the language. A consultation of that length is a short file; a long recording goes through the queue.
