Two different jobs
Two services with the same price and very different work. TurboScribe takes the recording that already exists and gives you the text; Otter takes the meeting itself and gives you notes, summaries and action items. Every number below was read on a public pricing page on 21 October 2026, and where a page would not answer, the cell says so.
How to choose between a file service and a meeting bot
- 1
Decide where the audio comes from
A file that is already on your disk is a job for TurboScribe or for Transcribsi. A meeting that has to be joined and summarized is Otter's job. Nothing else on this page matters until that is settled.
- 2
Compare the free allowance
Otter gives 300 minutes a month free. TurboScribe gives 3 transcriptions a day with files up to 30 minutes. Our free plan is 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, with no card.
- 3
Count what the paid plan really adds
TurboScribe at $10 a month paid yearly lifts the file limit to 10 hours and 5 GB. Otter's Pro plan, at $8.33 a user a month, adds 10 file imports a month and an MCP server.
- 4
Check the language of the recording
TurboScribe announces 98+ transcription languages and translation to 134+. We support 99+ languages. Otter did not name a number on the pages we read.
Tips
Decide first: a file on disk or a meeting in the calendar.
Minutes a month and files a day are not the same unit.
Read the export list, not the logo.
Ask where the audio is processed before you upload.
Questions this page answers
Which one transcribes a file that is already on my disk?
TurboScribe and Transcribsi both take a file. TurboScribe allows files up to 30 minutes on the free plan and up to 10 hours on the paid one; we allow up to 30 minutes on the free plan.
Does either service sit in the meeting and write the notes?
Otter does: it is a meeting assistant that records calls and returns summaries and action items. TurboScribe records live sessions, but it is not a workspace for the notes of a team.
Is the $10 a month plan the same offer in both?
No. TurboScribe's $10 a month paid yearly ($120 a year) buys unlimited transcriptions for one person and files up to 10 hours. Ours buys no minute limit of audio a month, DOCX export and the API.
What does Otter give that a transcription service cannot?
The meeting itself: a bot that joins Zoom, Meet or Teams, summaries, action items and a search across every meeting. That is why the free plan is measured in minutes a month and not in files.
Which one should a Russian-language team pick?
Wthe recording language is detected automatically. TurboScribe announces 98+ languages but does not name Russian separately in the table we read.
