How to transcribe a voicemail, step by step

Open the voicemail
In the Phone app press Voicemail and open the message that is needed.

Share the recording
The share sheet of the message opens the audio of the voicemail, and it can be saved to the Files app.

Do not rely on the built-in text
The transcription of the phone is in beta, it covers English messages, and it depends on the quality of the recording.

Take the file off iPhone
Open iPhone on the device where the recording was made, find the file and take it down. Nothing else of the platform is needed afterwards.

Send the file to the engine
Drop the file of the voicemail on the widget above, set the language and switch the speaker split on when more than one person talks.
What comes back from the engine
- TXT
One segment per line, the way a person wrote it down. It is the format to paste into a ticket, a chat or a document.
- TXT, CSV
The start and the end time of every segment, and the speakers named separately when you ask for it.
- SRT, VTT
SRT and VTT with the time of every line, so the recording can carry its own subtitles.
- Markdown, DOCX
The transcript is edited through the API and exported as Markdown for a wiki, or as DOCX for a review.

What the recording does not give you
The voicemail is already on your disk, and it already holds the whole meeting. A recording is kept, and a recording is not used: the text is what the next person opens. Our own engine reads the voicemail once, keeps the time of every sentence and hands the text back as a document.
Tips
Name the file of the voicemail after the meeting, not after the day.
iPhone gives the file, but the name of the file is yours to choose.
Check the length of the voicemail before the upload: 30 minutes is the limit of one file.
Over 30 minutes on the free plan a file has to be cut before sending; Pro has no minute limit.
Set the language of the voicemail yourself when you know it, or leave it on automatic detection.
