In short

Save the note out of the chat and keep its words as a record you can search or forward. One file is up to 30 minutes, the accepted formats include mp3, wav, m4a and ogg, and the free plan is $0 with 3 files a day.

How it works

How to keep the transcript of a WhatsApp voice note

  1. 1

Save the note as a file

Forward the note to yourself or save it into the files of the phone. The service never connects to WhatsApp and never reads a chat: the file is the whole input.

  2. 2

Mind the format of the file

The accepted formats are mp3, wav, m4a, mp4, webm, ogg, flac, aac, wma and mov. If the saved note is refused, convert it to MP3 first.

  3. 3

Read the words of the note

The transcript comes back line by line, with the start and the end time of each line, and with the speakers named when the split of the voices is on.

  4. 4

Keep the text where it belongs

Paste it into a mail, a ticket or a note of your own. TXT and Markdown are free, and DOCX is on Pro; the CSV keeps the times next to the words.

The case

A note that scrolls out of the chat

The note in a chat is a sound with no address on it. It is hard to find again, impossible to quote, and gone the moment the thread is cleaned up. The words of that note are often the answer to something: a date, an address, a name that has to be written down. Saving the note as a file and transcribing it turns a voice into a line of text that stays where you put it.

Tips

  • Forward the note to yourself and save the file.

  • Convert to MP3 if the upload is refused.

  • A voice note is short; the free plan is enough.

  • Paste the text where the answer is needed.

Questions this page answers

Does the service read my WhatsApp chats?

No. There is no connection to WhatsApp and no account of ours inside your chats. You save the note as a file and upload it, and the chat stays where it is.

How long can a voice note be?

One file is 30 minutes and has no minute limit. On the free plan a file may be 30 minutes, which covers a note of any length that fits in a conversation.

What can I do with the text afterwards?

Copy it into a mail or into a ticket, or export it: TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV, and DOCX on Pro. The note becomes something you can read without listening.

What does a competitor accept as input?

Transkriptor publishes the inputs it takes: mp3, mp4, wav, opus and m4a (transkriptor.com/tr/fiyatlandirma, read on 22 October 2026). Ours reads ten formats, including webm, flac and ogg.
