Temi alternative
Temi bills by the minute: the first file is free up to 45 minutes, and every audio minute after that costs $0.25, so a 2-hour video comes to $30. Transcrib Si is a subscription: $10 a month gives 1,500 minutes of audio, with the speaker names and the exports included.
A service you pay for by the minute
Temi sells transcription by the length of the audio, and its own help centre says so plainly: the first file is free up to 45 minutes, and after that every audio minute costs $0.25. There is no monthly plan in the pages we read, and no price list either. You put money on the account, the balance is spent as files come in, and you can ask the account to top itself up by $20 whenever it falls below $10.
That model suits somebody with an irregular trickle of small files. It is a different shape from ours: Transcrib Si sells a plan with an allowance, so a heavy month and a quiet month cost the same and there is no meter running in the background. Which one is cheaper depends entirely on how many minutes you push through it.
Everything in the right-hand column below was read from a public page on 25 October 2026, and each figure carries the page and the date it came from.

Two hours of audio, two ways to pay for it
The table below puts Temi's own worked example next to our plan. The Temi figure is the one its help centre prints for a 2-hour video; the Transcrib Si figure is the monthly price of Pro. The last row is our own division of the two.
| Service | What the same audio costs | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Temi | $30, at $0.25 an audio minute | help.temi.com, Accounts and Billing, checked |
| Transcrib Si | $10, the monthly price of Pro, with 1,500 minutes included | transcrib.si/pricing.html, checked |
| The difference, in our arithmetic | one third of the Temi price for the same 120 minutes | our division of the two figures above, Temi and our price page, both checked |
Where Temi suits the job better
- You pay only for what you send. One file of 45 minutes is free, and the next minute costs $0.25. Nobody is left paying for a month of allowance they did not use.
- Your files are large. Temi accepts files up to 2GB, ours stop at 64 MB and 120 minutes.
- You want a caption file for a video. SubRip Text and WebVTT downloads are part of the Temi flow, with an editor to fix the timing before you publish.
- You work on a phone. Temi has a mobile app, described in its help centre.
- You want to top up and forget. The prepaid balance reloads itself with $20 whenever it drops below $10, so there is no renewal date to remember.
Where our service suits the job better
- You know roughly how much you will transcribe. A plan with 1,500 minutes a month costs the same in a quiet month and in a heavy one.
- The audio is in Russian. We recognize Russian and English and build for the Russian-English mix; the Temi help centre does not publish a language list we could read.
- You need the transcript in a machine-readable form. TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV, DOCX, a REST API and an MCP server with 4 tools.
- You want the file to be read on our own infrastructure. It sits outside the United States, a pure English file may go to a named US cloud provider when that fallback is on, and nothing is sold or used to train models for other customers.
- You want a free tier that repeats. 3 files a day of up to 30 minutes, every day, rather than one free file in total.
How to choose between them
- Take Temi if your workload is a few long files a month, if the file is bigger than 64 MB, and if paying by the minute suits you better than a subscription.
- Take Transcrib Si if you transcribe every week, if the language is Russian, and if the transcript has to reach your own tools.
- Start with the free part of each if the decision is still open: Temi gives one file of up to 45 minutes, we give 3 files a day of up to 30 minutes.

Questions this page answers.
How much does Temi cost per minute?
The first file is free up to 45 minutes, and after that Temi charges $0.25 for every audio minute. Its own help centre prints two examples: a 5-minute recording at $1.25 and a 2-hour video at $30.
Does Temi have a monthly subscription?
None that we could read. The billing article describes a prepaid balance with an automatic reload of $20 when the balance falls below $10, and no monthly plan appears on the pages we opened on 25 October 2026.
How well does Temi separate the speakers?
Temi says its speaker identification algorithm tries to identify different speakers and separate them into paragraphs, and it says plainly that it is not perfect. You can rename a speaker in the editor and choose whether the exported file carries the names.
What is the biggest file each service accepts?
Temi lists a file above 2GB among the reasons a request fails, so the ceiling is 2GB. Transcrib Si accepts up to 64 MB and 120 minutes per file on every plan, and says so on the pricing page.
Which service gives more for a fixed monthly sum?
For 120 minutes of audio, Temi asks $30 on its own example, while the Transcrib Si Pro plan is $10 a month and includes 1,500 minutes. The comparison is ours, and the two figures underneath it come from the pages named above.
