In short

Upload the recording of the newsletter and it comes back written out, with the time of every line and every word of the letter as it was spoken. One file is up to 30 minutes; the free plan is $0 with 3 files a day.

The case

A letter that is read out instead of written

A newsletter that arrives as a voice is read at the speed of a person, which is slower than reading and much slower than skimming. The words of the author are the same either way, so the recording is written out with a timecode on every line: the issue can be searched, quoted, translated by a person and kept in the archive next to the issues that were typed.

How it works

How to transcribe the audio of an issue

  1. 1

Save the audio of the issue

Download the file the platform gave you, or record the message yourself. One file may be up to 30 minutes.

  2. 2

Upload it and set the language

Drop the file into the widget above, choose the language of the letter or leave it on automatic detection.

  3. 3

Read the letter with the timecodes

Every line carries the time it was said, so a number or a name can be found and heard again.

  4. 4

Write the issue of the newsletter

Export Markdown for the page of the issue, TXT for the text, DOCX on Pro for the archive of the editor.

Tips

  • Name the file after the number of the issue.

  • Check the numbers and the names against the recording.

  • Export Markdown when the issue goes into your own site.

  • Keep the original file, every timecode points at it.

Questions this page answers

Does the service write the issue for me?

No. It transcribes the recording. The headline, the links and the layout of the issue are put together by you.

Can a newsletter be translated from this text?

The text is yours to send to any translator you like, and it comes with the timecode of every line, so a mistranslated number can be checked against the recording.

How long may the recording be?

up to 30 minutes, the same on every plan. The free plan allows 3 files a day and 30 minutes per file.

Is the audio of the issue kept?

Until you delete it in the app. On the free plan the transcript is kept for 7 days, and the audio is never sold or used for training.
