Best way to transcribe meetings: what to compare
- 1
Read the text, fix a name
The text comes back one segment per line, with the start and the end time of every piece, and a wrong name is fixed in the editor.
- 2
Set the language of the recording
The language of the recording is set in the widget before the upload, and a wrong setting shows up in the names of the speakers later.
- 3
Turn on the split by speaker
When more than one person talks, the split by speaker is switched on in the widget, and the names of the speakers are written in the editor afterwards.
- 4
Read the text line by line
The text of every segment is a line of its own, and the line is what is searched, quoted and copied into the minutes of the meeting.
What comes back from the engine
- TXT
One segment per line, the way a person wrote it down. It is the format to paste into a ticket, a chat or a document.
- TXT, CSV
The start and the end time of every segment, and the speakers named separately when you ask for it.
- SRT, VTT
SRT and VTT with the time of every line, so the recording can carry its own subtitles.
- Markdown, DOCX
The transcript is edited through the API and exported as Markdown for a wiki, or as DOCX for a review.
What the service takes, and what it gives
- Free plan
$0: 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, no card
- Pro plan
$10 a month when you pay yearly ($120 a year), or $20 a month
What the recording does not give you
Every recording ends in a file, and the file is what has to be read. The hour after a meeting is spent listening to it again, and it is spent badly, because the ears are tired. A search then turns into a quotation with a timestamp, because the time of every line stayed in the text.
Tips
The limit of one file is 30 minutes on the free plan, and the Pro plan has no minute limit.
Read the first lines of the text before you send the file of the recording out.
A correction in the editor does not move the time of any other segment.
Keep the recording in a folder of its own, so the export lands where you look for it.
The free plan gives 3 files a day, and the paid plan is $10 a month when you pay yearly.
