Transcribe a university lecture

University lecture transcript: the lecture written out with timecodes, so the notes of the student and the notes of the professor agree. Free $0, 3 files a day.

In short

Upload the recording of the lecture and it comes back written out, with the time of every line and the professor and the students named apart. One file is up to 30 minutes; the free plan is $0 with 3 files a day.

The case

The notes that do not match the lecture

Two hundred people write two hundred different notes, and none of them has the same lecture. The recording settles it: one text for the whole hall, with the timecode of every sentence, so a student who missed the third week can find the part about the exam and hear it in the voice of the professor. The questions from the hall are in the text as well, because a question asked out loud is sound like everything else.

How it works

How to transcribe a lecture

  1. 1

Get the recording of the lecture

The file the capture system produced is the one to upload. A lecture 30 minutes on the free plan has to be split in two.

  2. 2

Upload it and separate the voices

Drop the file into the widget above, leave the language on automatic detection and turn the split by speaker on.

  3. 3

Find the part the notes missed

Search the text for a term of the course and read the lines around it, with the timecode of the moment.

  4. 4

Give the text to the hall

Export TXT or Markdown for the students, DOCX on Pro for the department, and CSV when the attendance has to be listed.

Tips

  • Name the file after the course and the group.

  • Mark the timecode of the exam rules and the deadlines.

  • Export Markdown for the page of the course.

  • Keep the original recording, every timecode points at it.

Questions this page answers

Are the questions of the students in the transcript?

Yes, a question asked out loud is sound, so it becomes a line like any other. What was typed in the chat of the platform is not read.

What about the slides and the board?

They stay out of it. The service transcribes the sound of the file, so the formulas on the screen are not part of the text.

How long may the recording be?

up to 30 minutes, the same on every plan. The free plan allows 3 files a day and 30 minutes per file.

Who may read the transcript of a lecture?

Whoever you give it to. The file stays in your account until you delete it, the free plan keeps the transcript 7 days, and nothing is sold.
