Transcribe a webinar recording to text
Webinar to text: the talk of the event written out with the time of every line, for the people who missed it. Free $0, 3 files a day.
Upload the recording of the event and the talk comes back as text, with the start and the end time of every line and the presenter named apart from the audience. One file is up to 30 minutes; the free plan is $0.
The half of the room that was not in the room
Half of the people who registered never saw the event live, and the other half saw it and remember it differently. What the host said once is asked again in the chat the next morning, in the mail that follows and in the recording nobody has opened yet. A transcript with timecodes turns the talk into a document: searchable, quotable, and pointing back at the second a sentence was said.
What the transcript of a webinar gives you
- One recording of the event
up to 30 minutes on the free plan, no minute limit on Pro
- The questions from the chat
not part of the recording: only what was said out loud becomes text
- The free plan
$0: 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, no card
- The slides
not in the file: the transcript holds the sound of the event, nothing of the screen
How to transcribe the recording of an event
- 1
Download the recording of the event
The file the platform of the host produced is the one to upload. A session 30 minutes on the free plan has to be split into two files.
- 2
Upload it and set the language
Drop the file into the widget above, leave the language on automatic detection, and switch on the split by speaker to hear who spoke.
- 3
Find the moment of a question
Every line carries the time it starts and ends, so the answer to a question from the audience can be found in seconds.
- 4
Send the text to the people who left
Export TXT for the mail that follows the event, and CSV when the questions have to be listed one by one with their times.
Tips
Read the first minute before the event starts: the intro names the speakers.
Keep the original file, every timecode points at it.
Ask the host for the recording of the questions, not only of the talk.
Export Markdown when the text goes into a knowledge base.
Questions this page answers
Does the transcript include the questions from the chat?
No. A chat message is not sound, so it stays out of the transcript. Only what the presenter and the audience said out loud is written down.
Can the speakers be told apart?
Yes. With the split by speaker on, the presenter, the panel and the questions from the floor each get a label of their own.
How long may the recording of the event be?
up to 30 minutes on every plan. The free plan allows 3 files a day and 30 minutes per file.
What happens to the recording after the upload?
It stays in your account until you delete it, and on the free plan the transcript is kept for 7 days. Nothing is sold and no model of ours is trained on it.
