Terms of service
These terms cover your use of the Transcrib Si service and the transcrib.si website. By creating an account or sending us a file, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service
Transcrib Si operates a speech-to-text service. You give it an audio or video file, it returns a transcript with timestamps and, if you ask for it, speaker labels, and you can edit and export the result. We may add, change or remove features. We will not reduce the core function of transcribing files without telling you.
2. Accounts
- You need an email address and a password.
- One account per person or one team. Do not share a login, do not sell access to an account, and do not let more people use it than the plan allows.
- Keep your password and your API keys to yourself. Tell us at once if you think a key has leaked, and we will revoke it.
- Give us accurate information and keep it accurate.
- You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13 years old.
3. Plans, limits and fair use
- Free — 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes per file, 64 MB per file.
- Pro — a fair-use allowance of 1,500 minutes of transcribed audio per calendar month. $10 a month when billed yearly ($120 a year), or $20 a month when billed monthly.
- Team — the terms we agree in writing, including the committed volume.
- API — metered and billed by volume, outside any subscription.
- No plan includes unlimited transcription. The numbers above are the numbers.
- When you reach a limit, the service returns a clear error and tells you what happened. Reaching the limit does not by itself cancel or suspend your account.
- You may not deliberately evade a limit, split one account across several to get more allowance, or use the service to re-encode a media library at scale on a consumer plan.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- Break the law, or process content that is illegal where you are.
- Process content you do not have the right to process, including recordings made without the consent of the people in them, where the law requires consent.
- Impersonate someone, forge documents, or create deceptive content at scale.
- Attack the service: no probing, no denial-of-service, no scraping for resale, no circumventing rate or volume limits, no uploading malware.
- Reverse engineer the service or the transcription engine except where the law explicitly allows it.
- Use the API keys to build a product that competes with us using our outputs in bulk, without a written agreement.
5. Your content
- You keep all rights to the audio you upload and the text we produce from it.
- You give us the limited right to process your content to run the service for you: to store it, transcribe it, and export it back to you. That permission ends when you delete the file or close your account.
- You are responsible for having the right to upload the content, and for the content itself.
- We may suspend processing of a specific file if we are required to do so by law or if it is being used to break these terms.
6. Payment, renewal and cancellation
- Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel.
- Yearly billing is charged once for the year. Monthly billing is charged every month.
- You can cancel at any time from the Billing section of the app or by writing to us. You keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
- We do not offer refunds for periods already used, except where the law requires it. If we break a promise on our side, we will make it right.
- Failed payments are retried. If a payment cannot be collected, the account moves to the Free limits.
7. Suspension and termination
- You can close your account at any time. We delete your data as described in the privacy policy.
- We may suspend an account, in whole or in part, if you break these terms, if a payment fails, if we detect abuse or fraud, or if a law or a court order requires it. We will tell you why, and we will restore the account when the reason is gone.
- We may discontinue the service or a feature. We will give reasonable notice, and you can export your transcripts before that happens.
8. Intellectual property
The service, its interface, our transcription engine, the name Transcrib Si and the logo belong to us. We own or license the technology we use. You may not copy the interface or the brand to build a look-alike service.
9. No warranty
The service is provided as is. Transcription is an estimate, not a legal or financial record, and mistakes happen — especially with names, numbers and unfamiliar terms. Read the transcript before you rely on it, and do not use it as the sole record of a legal, medical or financial decision. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet a particular accuracy target.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability arising from or connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event that caused the claim. We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply as far as the law permits.
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold us harmless if your use of the service, or content you upload, infringes the rights of someone else or breaks the law.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in the United States have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you agree to submit to them. If you are a consumer, this does not take away protections that the law of your place of residence gives you.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows the current version. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
