Transcribe German audio to text
Transcribe German audio to text: the services that name German in their price tables, the free plan of each, the price of an hour and of a human subtitle.
German is the European language the meeting services name in their own price tables: Otter lists English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese, and Descript counts 25 languages. Ours takes 99+ languages, 30 minutes per file, no minute limit.
Where a German recording comes from
A German recording is usually a meeting, and a meeting is full of names. The market names German in its price tables rather than in a footnote, and that tells you where the engine was tested. Everything below that — a dialect, Austrian German, a handover on a factory floor — is a different question, and only a test on your own audio answers it.

How to get a German transcript
- 1
Read the price table, not the slogan
Otter writes English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese in its plan comparison. Descript lists 25 languages, tl;dv keeps a German interface among eleven, and Sonix publishes 54+.
- 2
Send the file without a converter
An mp3, a wav or an m4a goes up as it is. Our own engine reads 99+ languages, 30 minutes per file on the free plan, no minute limit, and the limits do not change between the free plan and the paid one.
- 3
Look for the hard words
A surname, a product code, a street in Munich. A German transcript that spells the client wrong is a transcript that has to be read twice, and the second reading costs more than the first.
- 4
Put the result where the work is
TXT for a document, SRT or VTT for a video, CSV for a spreadsheet. Our six export formats are the same on every plan, except DOCX, which sits on Pro.
Tips
A price table that names German beats a homepage that says 100 languages.
Check the surnames in the first minute.
Keep the original file; an export does not fix the spelling.
A human subtitle minute is priced apart from a machine one.
