The case

Why a voicemail gets listened to three times

A voicemail is short and it is never convenient. You miss the name because the line was bad, you miss the number because it was said once and you were on a tram, and by the third listening you still cannot write it down. The text of the message fixes all three: the name, the words and the moment they were said stay together on one line.

How it works

How to write out a voicemail

  1. 1

Find the recording of the message

Open the voicemail on your phone, share it and save the audio as a file. One recording may be up to 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Upload it above

Drop the file into the widget, leave the language on automatic detection and press Transcribe. The free plan allows 3 files a day.

  3. 3

    Read it with the timecodes

Every line starts with the time it was said, so you can hear the sentence again when a name came out wrong.

  4. 4

Copy the text into your phone

Take TXT or Markdown for the message itself, and CSV when you want one row per line with the time and the speaker.

Tips

  • Name the file after the person, not after the phone.

  • Check the first five seconds: the greeting tells you who is speaking.

  • Split by speaker helps when two messages were saved into one file.

  • Export CSV when the messages go into a table of calls.

Questions this page answers

Can a voicemail be transcribed with the number of the caller?

The service transcribes the sound of the recording, so a number that was never spoken is not in the text. Keep the name and the number in the file name.

What if the message is in another language?

99+ languages are the 99+ languages of the engine. Set the language in the widget or leave it on automatic detection.

How long may the recording be?

up to 30 minutes, the same on every plan. The free plan counts 3 files a day and allows 30 minutes per file.

Does the recording stay in my account?

Yes, until you delete it. On the free plan the transcript is kept for 7 days, and the audio is never used to train models for other customers.
