Sonix vs Transcrib Si: a broad transcription service against a narrow one
Both services transcribe files and both publish their prices in machine-readable form. Sonix is broader — 54+ languages, translation, legal and medical verticals. Transcrib Si is narrower — Russian and English, tuned for the mixed conversation, with an API and an MCP server and no vertical contract. The comparison was read from public pages on 21 October 2026.
What we compared, and how
Everything in the other column was read from public pages on 21 October 2026. Where a page could not be read, the cell says “not measured” — we do not fill those cells from advertising or from memory. Our own column comes from our pricing page, our service contract and our privacy policy, all published on this site.

Where Sonix is better
- Translation and subtitles into 54+ languages — we transcribe, we do not translate.
- Two verticals with their own plans: Legal and Medical Pro at $880 a year, with HIPAA and a BAA on the medical side.
- The language count: 54+ transcription languages, against our two.
- A clean machine-readable facts file: llms.txt of 13.1 KB with a “Facts” block — prices, plans, speed, the whole language list — and rich JSON-LD on the home page.
- The most AI-friendly robots.txt in the comparison set: separate sections for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and others, with a comment saying that AI assistants and answer engines are explicitly welcome.
Where Transcrib Si is better
- Russian and English, tuned for the mixed Russian-English conversation, instead of 54+ languages that are listed but not tuned for anything in particular.
- A simpler price: $10 a month paid yearly for 1,500 minutes of audio, against $10 an hour or $25 a month as the entry point.
- No vertical surcharge and no contract: you do not need a $880-a-year legal plan to transcribe a recording.
- Agent access: a REST API under api.transcrib.si/v1, an MCP server with 4 tools, and plugins for Claude and ChatGPT.
- DOCX and CSV exports, which Sonix does not list, and a published privacy policy that names the countries and the retention periods.
Who should pick which
- Pick Sonix if you need translation or subtitles, or if you work in legal or medical and need the vertical plans and their compliance paperwork.
- Pick Transcrib Si if your audio is Russian or mixed Russian-English, and you want a stated price and a stated allowance.
- Pick Sonix if you want the machine-readable facts of a competitor to be as easy to read as ours — its llms.txt is a model of that, and its robots.txt is the most open to AI crawlers we saw.
- Pick either if a free option decides it: our Free plan is $0 with no card, Sonix has a 30-minute trial without a card.
- Pick Transcrib Si if you want the transcript inside Claude or ChatGPT without writing a client.
The short version
Sonix wins on breadth: languages, translation, subtitles, verticals with HIPAA and a BAA, and a file format list that includes PDF.
We win on shape: one price, one allowance, one engine. $10 a month paid yearly gives 1,500 minutes of audio per calendar month and a file limit of 64 MB and 120 minutes; the API is metered by volume with no subscription attached to it.
Neither of us publishes a measured accuracy number. Sonix's home page claims “99% Accuracy in 54+ Languages”; that is a marketing claim on the home page, and we did not measure it. Ask both services for the evaluation report and the sample set.

How to decide in one minute
Answer these four questions and the choice is made:
- Do you need the text in another language? Sonix — it translates into 54+ languages and makes subtitles. We do not translate.
- Are you legal or medical and do you need the compliance paperwork? Sonix — $880 a year for a vertical plan with HIPAA and a BAA.
- Is your audio Russian, or Russian with English in it? Transcrib Si — our engine is tuned for that mix, and we publish where the file is processed.
- Do you want the transcript inside a script, Claude or ChatGPT? Transcrib Si — a REST API, an MCP server with 4 tools and a plugin for each.

Questions this page answers.
Is Transcrib Si cheaper than Sonix?
For plain transcription, usually: $10 a month paid yearly for 1,500 minutes of audio per calendar month, against Sonix Core at $10 an hour or $25 a month for 5 hours of transcription plus 5 hours of AI analysis. Sonix's more expensive tiers buy more hours and more AI analysis, which is a product we do not have.
Which service is more accurate?
We cannot answer that for Sonix and we do not publish a number for ourselves. Sonix's home page claims “99% Accuracy in 54+ Languages”; we did not measure it. Ask both for the evaluation report and the sample set, and test on a recording of your own voice.
Does Sonix translate, and does Transcrib Si?
Sonix translates into 54+ languages and produces subtitles. We do not translate — we transcribe Russian and English and export the text as TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT, CSV or DOCX.
Can I use Transcrib Si inside Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes — a plugin for each, both going through the same MCP server: transcribe_audio, summarize_transcript, extract_actions and list_transcripts. The API is REST v1 under api.transcrib.si, with an API key on Pro and Team.
Which one is easier for an AI assistant to read?
Both publish their facts in machine-readable form, and Sonix does it better than most: llms.txt of 13.1 KB with a “Facts” block, plus a robots.txt that explicitly welcomes AI assistants and answer engines. We publish llms.txt, llms-full.txt and JSON-LD with our prices and limits.
