Where it runs Our own transcription engine, a model profile tuned for Russian and for the Russian-English mix A Russian or mixed file is processed on our own infrastructure outside the United States; a file that is entirely in English may go to a cloud speech provider in the United States when that fallback is enabled on the server

How to do it in four steps

  1. Make sure the meeting was recorded, and that everyone knew

Zoom records when the host presses record or when the cloud recording is switched on for the account; participants are told that the recording is running. Record only with the consent of the other side — the rules differ by country and we do not give legal advice.

  2. Find the file: on the host's computer, or in the organizer's account

A local recording stays on the computer of the host. A cloud recording is listed in the Recordings tab of the account that scheduled the meeting, and the link also arrives by email. Both give you a file you can download.

  3. Make the file fit 64 MB

Zoom writes a video recording as a video file, and an audio-only recording as an audio file. If the file is over 64 MB, take the audio track out: ffmpeg -i zoom.mp4 -vn -acodec libmp3lame -b:a 64k zoom.mp3. At 64 kbps two hours are about 57.6 MB, so it fits (calculated).

  4. Upload, split by speaker, export

Drop the file into the widget on this page, switch on Split by speaker, read the first lines, and export to DOCX, SRT or TXT.

We do not join Zoom. There is no bot in the invite and no calendar connection: we do not record anything on your behalf and we do not import files. You download the recording, we give you the text. We did not audit Zoom itself either: the steps above describe the usual way to get the file, not an integration we tested.

FAQ

Questions this page answers.

Does Transcrib Si join the meeting?

No. There is no bot in the Zoom invite, we do not record the call and we do not connect to your calendar. You download the recording and upload the file.

Local recording or cloud recording — does it matter?

No. Both are files, and both are read the same way. A local recording you have to copy off the host's computer; a cloud recording you download from the organizer's account.

My Zoom recording is bigger than 64 MB

Take the audio track out with ffmpeg (the command is on this page) or split the recording into parts. Both work: the service reads the file you upload.

Can I get the transcript as subtitles?

Yes: SRT and VTT are two of the six export formats, and the start and end time of every segment goes into them.

How much does it cost?

Free is $0 with 3 files a day and up to 30 minutes per file, and no card is needed. Pro is $10 a month paid yearly ($120 a year) or $20 a month, with fair use of 1,500 minutes of audio per calendar month.

Can I send the recording to the service from my own code?

Yes — POST /v1/transcripts takes the file as multipart, the language as ru, en or auto and the diarize flag, and returns the transcript id you then read back.
